I’m a Virtual Assistant with more than 15 years’ experience helping business owners with the practical stuff that keeps a business running.
These days, a lot of my work centres around Google Workspace, business workflows and ongoing behind-the-scenes support – helping solo business owners sort out the things that are taking too long, feel unnecessarily complicated or have simply been sitting on the “I’ll get around to that eventually” list.
I like solving problems, getting things organised and finding a simpler way of doing things.
And I’m a big believer that you shouldn’t need to be particularly “techy” to make good use of the tools you’re already paying for.
So, how did I end up doing this?
I’ve been working as a Virtual Assistant since 2010, supporting business owners with the behind-the-scenes admin that keeps things moving.
Over the years, that work has evolved quite a bit.
I’ve always enjoyed the problem-solving side of being a VA – figuring out why something isn’t working, organising the chaos and finding ways to make everyday tasks easier.
Google Workspace gradually became a big part of that, which eventually led me to launch Sharon’s Tutorials, where I create simple, step-by-step tutorials and courses to help people get more from Google Workspace and other everyday business tools.
So these days, I get to combine the two things I enjoy most:
Helping people sort things out and showing them how things work.
A little bit more about me…
I work from home in the Irish countryside, which is pretty much my idea of heaven.
And keeping me company is Xena, my rescue dog and unofficial office manager.
We adopted her from our local rescue in 2015 and she has very strong opinions about working hours. Apparently, sitting at a desk for too long is unacceptable and regular play/walk breaks are mandatory. 😂
She’s actually been very good for me in that respect. I used to be terrible at stepping away from my computer, but these days I have a furry reminder that there’s a world outside the laptop.
When I’m not working, you’ll often find me doing something that involves not being on a computer.
I love paper quilling – making little pictures and designs from coiled strips of paper – and find it ridiculously relaxing.
I also enjoy photography, particularly trying to photograph the buzzards around us. I say “trying” because the buzzard generally flies away and I’m left with a beautifully composed photograph of an empty branch. 😂
And I’m a bit of a petrolhead too, so there’s a good chance you’ll find me watching MotoGP or NASCAR on a Sunday.
What can you expect if you work with me?
I’m practical.
I’m approachable.
And I don’t believe in making things more complicated than they need to be.
If something isn’t working, I’d rather roll up my sleeves and figure it out than give you a 14-step explanation involving six pieces of software and a spreadsheet!
If you don’t understand something, ask me. There are no silly questions.
And if something isn’t within my skill set, I’ll tell you that too.
My aim is simply to make your working day a little easier, a little less cluttered and a lot less frustrating.
Fancy saying hi?
If you’ve got something that’s driving you slightly mad, a process that takes far too long, or a Google Workspace mess you’ve been avoiding for months…
