Following on from my earlier post about spring cleaning your business, one of the tips I suggested was to create a process manual of all the admin tasks currently done in your business.
One of the easiest ways to do this would be to type it out in a Word document – you can then upload it to a service like Google Drive or Dropbox in order to share it with your team.
The most common question I get asked by my clients when using Word is how to delete a page… this tutorial shows you how 🙂
Firstly we need to turn on the Show Paragraph Marks which is located in the Paragraph section of the Home tab…
This makes all the hidden formatting symbols appear in the document i.e. spaces, returns, tabs, as in the example below…
Next we need to position the cursor in front of the paragraph mark on the page we want to delete…
If we now press backspace or delete, that page disappears moving the cursor back to the end of the previous page (we may need to press delete a few times depending on how many “returns” were pressed on the blank page).
Quick Note: In some instances, for example if there is a table at the bottom of the page, the above method doesn’t work. A quick way around this is to position the cursor in front of the last paragraph mark on the page before the one we want to delete, and change the font size to 1 – this will bring up the paragraph mark from the next page and remove that page.
We can now turn off the paragraph marks by clicking the Show/Hide Paragraph Marks button again in the Home tab on the ribbon. And that’s it… I hope you’ve found this helpful 🙂
